Dr. Neyra began his medical career in Lima, Peru where he received his education at Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, Lima, Peru along with the University of Texas Southwestern Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, Dallas; Henry Ford Hospital – Wayne State University, Detroit; and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas. In 2014, Dr. Neyra founded the Acute Kidney Injury in Critical Illness (AKICI) study group (www.akici.org), a group comprised of physicians and scientists interested in improving outcomes for AKI patients. He has published several original research articles in many peer-reviewed publications and has been recognized in his field with several honors and awards.
